Company - Interswitch
PROJECT: Quickteller Payment & Lifestyle app - Biller Payment
Situation:
I was part of a dynamic team at Interswitch, a leading pioneer in the African fintech landscape, known for processing billions of transactions across various countries. Our goal was to enhance the functionality of Quickteller, a comprehensive mobile, web, and USSD lifestyle app that facilitates various transactions including bill payments, airtime purchases, and more.
Task:
My core responsibility was to oversee the feature that allowed businesses, referred to as billers, to seamlessly collect payments from Quickteller users. The task involved ensuring that this feature was not only efficient but also aligned with the evolving needs of the market and our users.
Action:
I took charge of the biller configuration and onboarding process, ensuring a streamlined integration for businesses using our platform. I led a series of enhancements to the payment collection feature, focusing on improving the user interface and interaction to make it more intuitive. These enhancements were designed to keep pace with industry standards and cater to user expectations.
Result:
The improvements I implemented significantly enhanced user experience and operational efficiency. This led to an increase in the number of billers integrating with our platform, expanding our service offerings and reinforcing Quickteller’s position in the market. Our app became more user-friendly, which in turn improved customer satisfaction and transaction volumes.
Company : Zynopay
Project: Remmittance Payment APP
Situation:
At Zynopay, a well-regarded payment company, I was tasked with leading the development of a new remittance payment app. This app aims at simplifying international money transfers and offers diverse financial services on a single platform, addressing the needs of users to manage multi-currency transactions, KYC processes, and more.
Task:
The primary objective was to develop a robust mobile application that could provide secure and versatile financial services, including KYC compliance, multi-currency virtual accounts, and seamless bill payments and money transfers both within the same country and internationally.
Action:
I led a team in designing and implementing the mobile app for both iOS and Android platforms. Our focus was on creating a user-friendly interface that supports multiple currencies and incorporates advanced security measures for KYC and transactional processes. We developed features that allow users to easily set up virtual accounts in different currencies, pay bills, and transfer money across borders. We also ensured that the app integrates smoothly with existing banking systems to facilitate international transactions.

Project: Quickteller Loans(PAAS/B2C)
Situation:
In response to the challenges faced by the average person and low-income earners in accessing loans from traditional banks, which typically require manual processing and a guarantor, Interswitch aimed to democratize financial services. As part of the team, I worked on integrating a loan feature into the existing Quickteller app, which has been a reliable payment processor for over 20 years.
Task:
The main challenge was to design and implement a loan service that could efficiently assess and manage risk without the traditional banking requirements and could be accessible to a broader consumer base through our platform.
Action:
To achieve this, I contributed to the development of a machine learning score and rule-based scoring algorithm to accurately profile potential borrowers. I also helped build critical backend functionalities, including transfer and debit endpoints and a virtual wallet system. Additionally, we mined extensive transaction data to enhance our scoring model. I played a pivotal role in onboarding and equipping financial institutions with the tools needed for loan disbursement and collection, utilizing our extensive consumer channels for outreach and engagement.
Result:
The launch of Quickteller Loans was a resounding success, significantly surpassing our initial financial targets. Currently, the feature processes approximately 6,000 loans daily and functions seamlessly across multiple platforms, including ATMs, USSD, mobile apps, and the web, greatly enhancing our service accessibility and financial inclusion
